Wanted:  Experienced Grant Writer and Coordinator

Hicks Partners has an immediate opening for an experienced Grant Writer and Coordinator.  The individual selected will identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and future clients, as well as coordinate the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to third-party entities. 

Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and the performance of professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities on behalf of firm clients (individuals, companies, non-profits institutions, local economic development organizations) in diverse industry clusters, including biomedical, bio-products, healthcare, advanced energy, logistics and other areas.

Hicks Partners provides grant writing and coordinating services in the areas of Ohio Third Frontier, SBIR/STTR grants and contracts, Clean Ohio Fund, economic development grants, and other business incubating grants.

Qualified candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills. The candidate must be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes, able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.

The Grant Writer/Coordinator reports to the firm’s President & CEO.  The selected individual will work closely with other professionals in the firm and perform work independently.

Position will be based in Dublin, Ohio.  In-state travel will be required.  Both full and part-time candidates will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Researches and identifies new government and private funding prospects;
• Generates proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations;
• Assists in business development relative to the firm’s grant writing/development practice;
• Develops and manages team of scientific, technical and business consultants and other resources necessary to grow grant writing practice;
• Research and sourcing of grant opportunities;
• Grant formulation, writing and implementation;
• Maintains and implements funding calendar activities, including cultivation activities;
• Writes reports to government, foundations and other funders on behalf of clients;
• Identifies funding opportunities and new program areas to match client priorities, using research tools;
• Serves as a liaison to all funding agencies or organizations;
• Special projects as needed.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred;
• Minimum of five years experience as a grant writer;
• Proven track record in grant writing and program development;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Proficient in research, interpreting, analyzing and organizing diverse data;
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently and interact with clients and vendors to achieve stated goals;
• High degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information;
• Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Compensation

A competitive base salary commensurate with experience, performance bonuses, health insurance, profit sharing and 401K plan is offered.
